This advice is based on being human, also remember every stat is important for something. TOUCH the figurine in the Character Manager as often as you like until you have the stats that you like. Stats are divided into two categories: physical and mental. Humans have a maximum of 10 and minimum of 6 for all stats starting from the CM. The higher your stats, the better you can start off. With your initial TDPs work Strength and Stamina to 15, Agility and Reflex to 12, and your mentals to 10. Any remaining tdps can be spent on Strength.

As a beginning Paladin, use your tdps from circling to train up your physical stats, and to work your mentals as you grow. In other words, from circle 1-3 (or even 4), work predominantly your physicals. Then after 3rd circle (or 4th), start on your mentals. At the beginning circles you will want to be able to move around (hunt) and not get too tired from doing that (especially if you are in heavy plate). At 5th circle you start receiving spells, and you will need your mentals worked up for those. A technique that I use is to train stats in pairs, Strength and Stamina, Agility and Reflex, Wisdom and Intelligence, and Discipline and Charisma. I always wait until I have enough TDPs to train at least one point in each.

Physical: Strength, Stamina, Agility and Reflex.

Strength ~ Your ability to carry, lift or drag something. Also used to determine how hard a blow you can hit a creature with. Useful in carrying around your heavy plate armor and using heavier weapons, (e.g. 2HE, 2HB, Halberd). Strength can be trained in the Bellows room in Tembeg's Armory.

Stamina ~ How long you can carry, lift or drag something. How quickly you fatigue and recover from fatigue. Moving around in heavy plate can be tiring. Stamina is trained in near the Barbarians Guild.

Agility ~ How well you can hit a creature. Agility is trained at the Academy of Agility near the West Gate.

Reflex ~ How well you can avoid being hit. Also affects your balance. Reflex is trained at the Collegium by the Bazaar.

Mental: Wisdom, Intelligence, Discipline and Charisma.

Wisdom ~ Your ability to understand what you learn. Wisdom is trained two north of the fountain in the Asemath Academy.

Intelligence ~ Your ability to learn something. Intelligence is trained north-northeast of the fountain in the Asemath Academy.

Discipline ~ Your ability to learn different things at one time. Also used to determine your resistance to certain spells. Discipline is trained in the Hovel near the Clerics Guild.

Charisma ~ Determines how well you can cast spells and how you interact with NPCs. Charisma is trained in the cottage one north of the Trader's Guild.
